Spathiphyllum; commonly called Peace or Prayer Lily Plant. First came to Europe after discovery by Gustav Wallis in the Colombian jungle in 1824. Peace Lily is the Latin name of S. Wallis.
Its enduring popularity means it can be found in almost every shop that sells houseplants. In fact we'd go as far as saying it's likely one of the top five most popular houseplants.
Peace or Prayer Lily originally discovered flourishing beneath the Colombian rain forest cannot handle direct sunlight. It's leaves will turn toward the source of light. Full sun will burn the leaves and it will not survive.
I was born Richard Thomas 70 years ago in Southern California. Art has always been my passion, especially painting with acrylics, oils or water color. As well as drawing. Studied architectural drafting and design at San Bernardino Valley Junior College between 1968 and 1970. In the Fall of 1970, I chose a different vocation. By June of 2004, Richard Thomas retired from the retail meat cutting trade. After all my chores were done at home I started another career working in a local camera shop in 2006 to supplement my retirement income, where I was exposed to another art form - painting WITH light.
