Artist's Description

This beautiful tree planted many years ago outside the back exit of the post office is a Magnolia; member of 210 flowering plant species in the subfamily Magnolioideae of the family Magnoliaceae. When purchasing a new camera I made a point of bringing it with me on the next visit to the post office. It is named after French botanist Pierre Magnol. Bloom phase begins mid-February to mid-April; beautiful, yet very messy when fading blossoms fall to the ground.
