Description
"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" Matthew 6:25-26 (KJV)
Observing this free range turkey the other day reminded me of Jesus' teaching regarding God's provision; not worrying about the basic necessities of life. Moving through daily life knowing that our heavenly Father will provide the basics; being content!
This creature meandered through the city park foraging for food with no sense of urgency regarding the presence of many eyes watching him.
These birds never spook. You will never catch them off guard with eyes many times faster the human sight.
When danger approaches - with very powerful wings - they can fly straight up the highest tree branches or fly to another safe location.
After observing these birds, Ben Franklin nominated the turkey as the national bird.
