Located at 17110 Bodega Lane, Bodega, California, the former school house was original built in 1873. By the start of the 1960's, the building had been abandoned and the façade was repaired for use as the school in "The Birds". The property passed into private ownership in 1966. In the background, Saint Teresa of Avila Church is a Roman Catholic church in Bodega, California. The white, wooden church with a steeple sits on a hilltop overlooking Bodega Highway. The church was built by shipbuilders in 1860 on land donated by Jasper O'Farrell. Alfred Hitchcock attended service at the church in between filming "The Birds".
I was born Richard Thomas 70 years ago in Southern California. Art has always been my passion, especially painting with acrylics, oils or water color. As well as drawing. Studied architectural drafting and design at San Bernardino Valley Junior College between 1968 and 1970. In the Fall of 1970, I chose a different vocation. By June of 2004, Richard Thomas retired from the retail meat cutting trade. After all my chores were done at home I started another career working in a local camera shop in 2006 to supplement my retirement income, where I was exposed to another art form - painting WITH light.
